NEWVILLE, Pa. — The Frankfort boys finished second and girls took fourth in a field of 53 schools at the Ben Bloser Invitational on Saturday.
The event is one of the largest in Pennsylvania hosting schools across Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.
The varsity A/AA boys race had 258 runners. Wyomissing Area’s David Giles won the race in a time of 15:44, and Veritas Academy’s Henry Friedrichs took second in a time of 16:04.
Frankfort’s Ryan Hughes battled with the leaders and finished in third place in a time of 16:34, and teammate Gavin McDonald had a stellar performance and kept close to the front for most of the race and finished in seventh place in a time of 17:00.
Darius Gray medaled in 17th place in a time of 17:28. Joining his fellow teammates on the medal stand was Mac Alexander in 24th place in a time of 17:42, Johnny Jackson in 45th place, Noah Athey in 53rd place and Porter Lott in 134th place.
In the girls varsity A/AA race, the top runners in the Frankfort Invite were the top runners at the Ben Bloser Invite.
Mercersburg Academy’s Gabriella Cechini won the race in a time of 19:01. She was followed by a pair of Falcons, with Frankfort’s Bailey Ferguson in second place in a time of 20:04 and Addison Tharp in third place in a time of 20:11.
Paisley Raines medaled in 22nd place in a time of 21:00, Phoebe Weaver finished in 99th place, Emma Hughes in 111th place, Bella Jolley in 151st place and Hayle Yarbrough in 163rd place.
Haven Stanton led the Frankfort reserve boys in a time of 20:38, and Hailey McBride led the reserve girls in a time of 26:29.
