CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. — DJ Boardley’s putback gave Washington the lead late, and No. 1 Fort Hill turned it over on its final possession to fall 57-55 on Thursday night.
The Sentinels (9-3) had won seven consecutive games and looked to be in position to win an eighth leading 50-42 entering the fourth quarter.
However, Washington held the Sentinels to five fourth-quarter points, and Boardley scored seven of his 12 points in the period to help the Patriots come back.
Fort Hill’s Gamil Daniels tied the score at 55-all after two free throws with 33 seconds left before Boardley gave his team the lead for good a possession later.
Deshaun Brown topped the Fort Hill scoring with 21 points, followed by Landon Sensabaugh with 10, Daniels with eight and Liam Hamilton with seven.
Fort Hill hosts Berkeley Springs on Monday at 7 p.m.
No. 5 Frankfort 48, Hampshire 38
SHORT GAP, W.Va. — Cam Layton poured in a game-high 22 points to power Frankfort over Hampshire on Thursday night for the Falcons’ fourth straight victory.
Frankfort (7-5) trailed 13-10 after the first quarter, 18-17 at the half and was level at 28-all entering the fourth period.
The Falcons dominated the fourth 20-10 behind 10 Layton points.
Uriah Cutter added seven points, and Cam Lynch and Jeremy Phillips scored six apiece.
Carder Monroe topped Hampshire with 10 points, and Jordan Gray and Dylan Striesel tallied eight each.
Hampshire won the junior varsity game 48-32, led by Andrew Loy’s 15 points. Kycin Waits paced the Frankfort JVs with 11.
Hampshire (4-7) is at Berkeley Springs on Saturday at 2 p.m. Frankfort hosts Notre Dame on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
Northern 61, Meyersdale 31
MEYERSDALE, Pa. — Robbie Rollman accounted for nearly two-thirds of Northern’s points on Thursday in a win over Meyersdale.
Rollman scored 20 points, leading all scorers for the Huskies (6-8).
Abe Schilpp scored 13 points for Northern.
Alex Knauff added eight and Liam Stewart had seven.
Gavin Steinberg led Meyersdale with 15 points. He made three 3-pointers.
The Huskies won the junior varsity game 49-22. Jayden McNally led Northern with 17 points.
Jake Chambers led Meyersdale with 11 points.
Northern hosted Mountain Ridge on Friday.
Union 42, Pocahontas Co. 39
MOUNT STORM, W.Va. — Braylon Ward ended with a game-high 23 points to guide Union past Pocahontas County on Thursday night.
Union (5-5) led 8-6 after the first quarter, 26-17 at the half and 30-29 following the third.
Ward added 10 rebounds to record a double-double. Jacob Wolfe added six points, and Josh Burdock, Eric Linkswiler and Jacob Haynes added four each.
Dillon Dunz paced Pocahontas County with 16 points.
Union hosted Salisbury on Friday and is at Tygarts Valley on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Petersburg 69, Pendleton Co. 64
PETERSBURG, W.Va. — Petersburg buried 11 3-pointers to hold off Pendleton County on Thursday night.
Trace Rohrbaugh led the way with four made triples for the Vikings (9-3), and Kaleb Kuhn and Carter Hardy sunk three each. Petersburg had leads of 11-7, 37-29 and 55-52 following the first three quarters.
Kuhn scored a team-high 18 points, Rohrbaugh garnered 16, Hardy added 15 and Peyton Tingler notched 10.
Chase Owens and Josiah Kimble paced Pendleton County with 23 and 19 points, respectively.
Petersburg is at Tygarts Valley on Saturday at 2 p.m.
