SALISBURY — Former Allegany College of Maryland forward Leon Elung committed to Division III Salisbury University on Friday.
Elung announced his commitment on a post on X.
As a freshman during the 2021-22 season, he averaged 6.2 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
As a sophomore, he improved to 7.4 points and 7.7 rebounds a night.
He grabbed 183 defensive rebounds which was second best in NJCAA Region 20.
He was fifth in total rebounds (261) and 10th in rebounds per game (7.7).
Elung took a gap year this winter and will have two years of eligibility.
The local connection to the Sea Gulls doesn’t stop at Elung.
Salisbury assistant coach Sean Brown Sr. was the head coach at Frostburg State from 2019-23.
His son, Sean Jr., was the area player of the year at Mountain Ridge in 2020 and played four seasons at Frostburg.
Sean Sr. and Salisbury head coach Maurice Williams both played at Frostburg, but about a decade apart.
Williams enters his sixth season leading the Sea Gulls, while Brown begins his second year as an assistant.
Last season, Salisbury went 14-13 overall in the Coast to Coast Athletic Conference.
