LAWRENCE — As the kids enthusiastically awaited Santa’s arrival, Lawrence firefighters rolled up at their day care this week to hand out new warm coats.
Lawrence firefighters in Local Union 146, with support from the state firefighters’ union, the Professional Firefighters of Massachusetts, and the Boston Bruins Foundation, provided 50 brand new coats to children at the Greater Lawrence Community Action Council day care on Andover Street.
The firefighters, who arrived at the day care late Thursday afternoon, provided the coats to the kids as part of “Operation Warm,” said Dan Sirois, Lawrence fire union president.
The jakes helped the kids find the correct sizes.
Hats and other Bruins swag was given to the children by the foundation.
The Boston Bruins Foundation is a non-profit that collaborates with charitable organizations that demonstrate a commitment to health and wellness, education and athletics.
The Foundation believes advocating for children and families across these areas creates a strong support system that will ultimately lead to the betterment of our community, according to its website.
