Fire damaged a home on Crosby Avenue Tuesday night.
Lockport Fire Department was dispatched to 77 Crosby Ave. about 8 p.m. on a report of flames visible on the northeast corner (second floor) of the house. Upon arrival, firefighters found the fire had spread to a small front porch underneath that corner.
According to Fire Chief Luca Quagliano, the fire was largely contained to the outside of the house but there was “minor extension” inside on the second floor, in the corresponding corner.
The blaze was brought under control within a few minutes, and extinguished within an hour, Quagliano said.
Two adults and two children residing in the house were present at the time of the fire and they were able to evacuate safely. Firefighters removed a cat from the house and returned it to the owner, Quagliano said.
American Red Cross is assisting the family with temporary housing.
The initial damage estimate is $20,000. The damage was mostly to the exterior, Quagliano said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
