BUFFALO — A Falls man has pleaded guilty to a federal drug charge in a deal with the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Rashaun Dix, 38, of the Falls, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute cocaine during a proceeding before U.S. District Court Judge Richard J. Arcara in federal court in Buffalo. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
Federal prosecutors said Falls Police Narcotics Investigation Division (NID) detectives, and agents with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, began an investigation into the “cocaine trafficking activities” of a known drug dealer, in the Falls, in 2021. During the course of that investigation, the law enforcement agents uncovered evidence that Dix, who is well known to NID detectives, was having what was described as “interactions” with the target of the joint DEA and Falls police investigation.
In March 2022, investigators learned that Dix had told the drug trafficker that he had some “nu-nu” (also known as cocaine) and wanted to see what he could do with it. Prosecutors said Dix wanted the other trafficker to help him cook the cocaine into crack.
A month later, drug agents learned that Dix had arranged to meet the other trafficker to purchase $15,000 worth of narcotics. The investigators began physical surveillance on Dix and when he met with the other trafficker, both of them were taken into custody.
At that time, the investigators seized $15,028 in cash.
Detectives said they also discovered that Dix had managed to contact his girlfriend and told her, “Put everything in the washer and flush it … in the washer with bleach.” Dix also reportedly told his girlfriend not to “answer the door, and call the lawyer.”
When investigators executed a search warrant at the girlfriend’s home, a short time later, they found approximately 355 grams of cocaine, 22 grams of crack cocaine, and a digital scale.
Dix is scheduled to be scheduled on March 14, 2025, by Judge Arcara.
