TEUTOPOLIS — The Dieterich Movin Maroons were 19-13 last season, losing in the Class 1A Dieterich Regional Semifinals.
Head coach Jason Newkirk is entering his third season and has a career record of 34-30.
Newkirk talked about the forthcoming season below.
Outlook on the season
“We have two starters coming back, possibly three, with Brittney Niemerg. She was out last year with an injury. We have seven girls with varsity experience, so that will help.”
Feelings before the new season begins
“I’m hoping we have no injuries and hoping we win some games.”
Returners
“Kady Tegeler is a four-year starter. She’s a point guard and facilitates our offense. Sammi Goebel started a little bit last year. She’s a rebounder. Brittney is a great athlete. I think she’s going to stay healthy and help us out. Addison Miller is a junior and has played three years on the varsity team. I think she will turn the corner this year and this will be her year.”
Newcomers
“This summer, we played some games and I saw a lot of hustle out of the freshman. The two juniors are point guards. We don’t have a lot of size, so we will have to play fast this year. Hopefully, we’re in good shape. I think the group will play hard like we always do. Other than that, wins and losses will take care of itself.”
