Talk about an encore for Pinkerton’s Jackson Marshall.
After being the No. 1 basketball player in the Granite State this past winter — ending his career with 2,073 points and leading Pinkerton Academy to a Division I state championship — Marshall put together an incredible spring at the plate, leading the Astros baseball team to a Division I state title, the second in three years.
The right-handed slugger batted .508, with a .640 on-base percentage and a whopping .952 slugging percentage. He had 32 hits in 22 games, including 14 for extra bases with six doubles, two triples and six home runs. He had 23 RBIs, scored 24 times, walked 14 times and also got hit by a pitch nine times.
“Jackson was the best hitter in the state,” said head coach Steve Campo. “He had the ability to change a baseball game with every swing of the bat.”
Marshall was named the BCANH Division I Player of the Year and the New Hampshire MaxPreps Player of the Year. He’s a three-time All-State selection and a three-time Eagle-Tribune All-Star.
The 6-foot-9 first baseman also earned four saves as a relief pitcher.
He leaves Pinkerton as part of three state championship titles, while helping to lead the Astros to three straight baseball state championship games. In basketball, he’s the school’s all-time leading scorer and he became the third hoopster in Eagle-Tribune area history to reach 2,000 points. He was a four-time Eagle-Tribune basketball All-Star, including twice being named to the Super Team, and was Player of the Year this past winter.
Marshall will continue to play baseball at Southern New Hampshire University.
