WILSON — Multiple fire crews responded to a house fire in the village Wednesday morning. A dog was rescued from the otherwise unoccupied residence.
Niagara County Emergency Communications Center received a call over the radio from a Wilson Volunteer Fire Company assistant fire chief reporting smoke and flames coming from the house at 411 Lake St. shortly after 8:30 a.m.
Firefighters from the Wilson, South Wilson and Olcott companies worked for approximately an hour to extinguish the blaze.
While crews managed to pull one dog out of the house, one cat is still unaccounted for, according to the sheriff’s office.
American Red Cross was brought in to assist the occupants of the house.
The fire is being investigated by the county Origin and Cause Team and a damage estimate is yet to be determined.
