The developers group who planned to open an “upscale tavern” in the old Midwest Gymnastics building located at 3234 N. Vermilion Street will not be issued their special use permit.
Of the 13 present Aldermen, all unanimously voted against issuing the permit requested by developers CHD Property Developer Group LLC to open a Blue Store tavern.
During public comment prior to the vote, several locals spoke against the tavern, largely due to concerns regarding limited parking available and possible noise in the largely residential area — concerns shared by several Aldermen, including both Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr and Vice Mayor Tricia Teague.
Members of CHD’s team declined to comment on the vote.
