Lauderdale County residents will want to secure patio furniture and other outdoor items as damaging winds are likely Monday night and into Tuesday.
The National Weather Service in Jackson is forecasting an elevated threat of 20-30 mile per hour winds with gusts of up to 50 mph. The winds bring the potential for falling limbs or trees and downed power lines. High profile vehicles may also be impacted by the storm.
Meridian and Lauderdale County are also under an elevated threat of flash flooding Monday with the main threat from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. Tuesday. According to the forecast, the area could see as much as 3-6 inches of rain, leading to flooding in low lying areas.
In a social media post, NWS Jackson said the most likely time for winds will be just before and immediately after the rain.
