Cowden-Herrick announced Students of the Month and Staff Role Model for November.
Cowden-Herrick teachers named seventh grader Eve Flores and sophomore August Cosart Students of the Month for November.
The Students of the Month are nominated each month based on academic effort, attitude, participation/contribution, responsibility and service. Junior high and/or high school students are selected each month. They each receive $25, donated by United Fidelity Bank.
Eve is the daughter Rachel and Rudy Flores. She has one sister, Scarlett. Eve attends Christ Tabernacle Church in Herrick, where she participates in youth group.
Her future plans are to become a criminal defense attorney. She would eventually like to own her own practice.
August is the son of Stephanie and Ryan Cosart. He is a member of FFA and Spanish Club. August plays basketball, baseball, track and runs cross country for the CHBC Bobcats. He attends the First Christian Church and volunteers at the food pantry.
His future plans are to coach cross country and engage in carpentry and farming.
Cowden-Herrick announced Lisa Steffen as Staff Role Model of the Month of November.
The Staff Role Model of the Month is nominated each month by students, staff and community members. She will receive $50 cash, donated by Aaron and Devi Hawes on behalf of Lockart & Green Funeral Services.
Steffen teaches junior high Reading and Language Arts. She has taught for 27 years. She enjoys taking walks, riding horses and playing with her dog, Lady.
Steffen resides in Effingham with her husband, Joe. She loves spending time with her family, Paige Buchanan, Matthew and wife Serena Buchanan, Wyatt and wife Rachel Steffen and her grandson, Lincoln Steffen.
