U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro, NY-19, on Thursday announced he has selected Delaware Opportunities Inc. in Hamden to receive the 2024 Angels in Adoption Award for New York’s 19th Congressional District. Delaware Opportunities provides comprehensive early childhood education, health, nutrition and parent involvement services to children from low-income families in Delaware County. In June, it opened the first Child Advocacy Center in Delaware County.
According to a news release from Molinaro’s office, the Angels in Adoption Award is administered by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute, a nonpartisan organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and families in the United States. The Angels in Adoption recognition “celebrates individuals and organizations who contribute to the development and well-being of children and youth in their communities,” the release stated. Angel Award winners are invited to Washington to celebrate and meet with their member of Congress, participate in roundtable discussions with peers from across the county, and receive advocacy training.
“Delaware Opportunities has been serving our community for years and I was honored to select them for the Angels in Adoption Award,” Molinaro said. “Their vital services ensure no child is ever left behind.”
Shelly Bartow, executive director of Delaware Opportunities, said, “Delaware Opportunities is honored to receive the Angels in Adoption Award. We take great pride in our commitment to providing critical care and services to the children and families who need it most in our community. We appreciate the nomination from Congressman Molinaro and look forward to connecting with other community leaders from across the country.”
