BISMARCK, N.D. — Destinee Bursch had 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists as No. 10 Minnesota State rallied for a 69-63 win over Mary in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women’s basketball game Friday.
Minnesota State trailed 52-46 with 7 minutes to play but took the lead at 59-58 on Natalie Bremer’s free throw with 4 minutes remaining. The Mavericks made 9 of 10 shots in the fourth quarter, including 2 of 2 from 3-point range.
Bremer finished with 19 points, while Elisabeth Gadient scored 13 points. Ava Stier grabbed 12 rebounds.
The Mavericks (12-2, 8-0 in Northern Sun) play at Minot State on Saturday at Minot, North Dakota.
Women’s hockey: Whitney Tuttle tied a program record by scoring four goals as Minnesota State downed Lindenwood 8-1 in a nonconference game at St. Charles, Missouri.
It’s the seventh time in program history that a player has scored four goals and the first since Kelsey King did it at Long Island University on Dec. 16, 2022.
Audrey Garton had a goal and three assists, Bella Shipley and Kianna Roske each had a goal and two assists, and Kamryn Van Batavia had a goal and assist. Taylor Otremba had two assists.
Hailey Hansen made 18 saves for her third straight victory. The Mavericks had 42 shots on goal.
Minnesota State (9-1-1) finishes the series with Lindenwood on Saturday.
Men’s basketball: Minnesota State outscored Mary 50-21 in the second half and rolled to a 90-49 win in a Northern Sun game at Bismarck, North Dakota.
The Mavericks outscored Mary 24-12 over the last 9 minutes of the first half to lead 40-28. The lead grew to 20 early in the second half, 30 by the 10-minute mark and 40 just three minutes later.
Harrison Braudis, who was 3 of 4 from 3-point range, led the Mavericks with 17 points and six rebounds, and Justin Eagins scored 15 points with nine assists.
The Mavericks shot 56.1% from the field and made 11 of 25 from 3-point range.
Minnesota State (9-6, 5-2) play at Minot State on Saturday to complete the road trip.
