Rockmart built a 28-0 halftime lead and knocked off Coahulla Creek 35-7 in Varnell Friday night.
The Colts (0-5, 0-3 Region 7-2A), which got on the board with a touchdown for the second straight week after three straight shutout losses to start the season, couldn’t get enough improved offense to keep up with Rockmart (3-2, 3-0 Region 7-2A), winners of seven consecutive region titles.
Rockmart got on the board first with a rushing touchdown in the fourth, then an interception return for touchdown made it 14-0 after one.
The Yellow Jackets led 35-0 after three, and the fourth quarter was played with a running clock.
The Colt defense was able to limit Rockmart from putting more points on the board thanks in part to inteceptions by both Chris Ewart and Elijah Faraji. Faraji led Creek in tackles with 11, and Chevy Joyce had a sack and seven total tackles.
Colt quarterback Waelyn Baliles scored an 11-yard rushing touchdown in the closing moments. Baliles led Creek with 65 rushing yards.
Coahulla Creek is off next week and will return to action in an Oct. 4 game at home against Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe.
