A “Sal-A-bration” was held Friday at East Veterans Elementary School.
The Gloucester Fraternity Club presented a check for $3,165 to the school’s parent teacher organization in honor of Salvatore C. Parisi II — the Sal of the “”Sal-A-bration.”
The donation was made to fulfill a last wish Parisi had, to help the children in the Webster Street neighborhood with school supplies and events.
The club and Parisi’s friends and family held a dinner-dance fundraiser in his memory on his birthday. The event featured music by John Jerome, a friend of his, and raffles with prizes donated by local businesses, and the club’s own 50/50 raffle, club Vice President Leo Francis said.
The club also gave East Veterans Elementary School a flag featuring its blue shark logo.
A special thanks goes to Jo Jo Faria for help with the event, according to the club.
