“The boys played very well,” Calvary head coach Steve Robinette said. “We played our game of slow and patient.”
The Eagles (1-0) scored in double figures in each quarter and held the Spartans (0-2) to two points in the first quarter.
Calvary led 26-6 at halftime. The Eagles outscored the Spartans 25-23 in the second half.
“We allowed the game momentum to change our pace in the second half and we allowed BW to close the gap a bit,” Robinette said. “We manned the boards and were able to get a lot of second and third shoot opportunities.”
Canyon Michael and Gerald Mihailovich each scored six points for Calvary.
“We are a young team after losing four senior starters from last season, but I am very happy with where we are with such a short preseason,” Robinette said.
David DiNola led Bishop Walsh with 18 points including 16 in the second half.
Calvary hosts Great Commission on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
Bishop Walsh played at Broadfording on Tuesday.
“We have a large area that we can improve in,” Robinette said. “We expect to get better each game as the season progresses.”
