Eventually, one day, the Pentucket boys lacrosse program will have a new all-time points leader.
Records are made to be broken, and this one will be no different.
But the first Panther to ever hit 411 career points will have certainly earned it.
Quite simply, Ben Turpin put up a number that will take some time to reach.
The Saint Anselm commit just wrapped up a legendary four-year stint at Pentucket and was recently honored by the Cape Ann League this spring as the Kinney Division MVP. The captain finished with an area-high 90 goals and 47 assists, leading the Panthers (14-7) to the Division 4 Elite Eight.
Turpin broke the Pentucket scoring record late last year, and was only padding his stats this spring. For his career, he wound up scoring 272 goals with 138 assists for 410 total points.
And he wasn’t the only Panther to be honored by the league.
Star sophomore defender Aiden Napolitano was named to the 15-person All-CAL team, taking after his older brother, Evan, who was a three-time Daily News All-Star now currently playing at Limestone University. A pair of freshmen attackers, Michael Torrisi (39g, 19a) and Nate Stys (40g, 8a) were named CAL All-Stars.
Moving on, Newburyport had three athletes make the All-CAL First Team. Senior captain Owen Kreuz — an Assumption College commit — helped the Clippers (15-6) both win the Kinney Division, and reach the Division 3 Elite Eight with 39 goals and 20 assists. Junior defender Brian Lucy and sophomore faceoff specialist Matt Page joined him on the All-CAL team, while senior defender Gus Webster and junior attacks Colin Fuller (37g, 30a) and Eli Sirota (34g, 22a) were named All-Stars.
Their coach, Josh Wedge, was honored as Kinney Coach of the Year.
Finally, Amesbury attack Max White was named to the All-CAL team for the second straight year. The junior finished with a team-high 34 goals and 18 assists, and the Redhawks also saw sophomore defender Ollie Peters be named a CAL All-Star. Triton, meanwhile, had senior goalie Charlie Clare (270 saves, 62.7 save percentage) and sophomore attack Michael Taylor (42g, 15a) make the All-Star team.
