Nurse Practitioner Presleigh Yovich has joined Munson Healthcare’s neurosurgery department. She started at Munson as a registered nurse in cardiac telemetry and intensive care while studying to become a nurse practitioner.
The Elk Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce Board has announced Jean Derenzy will become the executive director of the chamber starting Sept. 1. Derenzy graduated from Elk Rapids High School and recently was CEO of the Traverse City Downtown Development Authority.
Michelle Thomson is the new executive director of the Michigan Land Bank Association. Thompson retired in March from her role as Benzie County treasurer. In 2012, she helped create the Benzie County Land Bank Authority. She served as its chairperson until her retirement.
Mary C. Reid, of Mayfield, was installed as district deputy for the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks for lodges in the Northwest District of the Michigan Elks Association. She will serve for one year.
Sergeant Mitch Wallin, of the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office, is one of three deputies in the state to receive a 2023 Outstanding Deputy of the Year Award from the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Michigan Chapter. He received the award from the Michigan Sheriff’s Association.
Lake Michigan Credit Union Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President Don Bratt has retired. Bratt worked for the company for nearly 14 years. He previously worked at Chemical Bank, which is now part of Huntington Bank. Christi Cowdin, LMCU vice president of marketing, is now the chief marketing officer. She joined the credit union in 2019 and has more than 25 years of experience in marketing, public relations and corporate communications.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has appointed individuals to state boards and commissions. Josh Scott, of Kewadin, was named to the Michigan Early-Stage Venture Investment Corporation Board of Directors. He is a board member of Havenly and Artifact Uprising and previous president of Guild Education. He co-founded and is chief operating officer of Craftsy. He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan and a master’s in business administration from the University of California Berkley. Scott will represent the public through June 13, 2027.
