SARANAC LAKE — Boquet Valley hit key free throws down the stretch on Saturday and held on for a 47-46 victory over Section X’s Colton-Pierrepont in non-league boys’ basketball.
“This was a hard-fought, come-from-behind victory for us,” Boquet Valley coach Colby Pulsifer said. “We did not shoot the ball well for three quarters.
“We were able to up our defensive pressure in the fourth and got some key stops. Knocking down our free throws at the end proved to be the difference against a very athletic Colton-Pierrepont team.”
Maddox Rice paced the Griffins in scoring with 15 points, while Ben Burdo added 11 and Jackson Hooper nine.
Eric Friedel tossed in a game-high 21 points, including three three-pointers, to lead Colton-Pierrepont. Ethan VanBrocklin added eight markers.

PLATTSBURGH — The Hornets received another strong team effort in a CVAC win over the Cougars.
Landon LaDue tossed in 16 points to lead Plattsburgh, while Logan Rodriquez and Cayden Williams added nine apiece, Bryan Kemokai and Max Filosca eight apiece and Dan Hartmann with seven.
“This was our second complete game in a row and a good weekend of basketball for the Hornets,” PHS coach Chris Hartmann said. “Kemokai continues to be a spark off the bench, Dan Hartmann was a beast on the glass, and Landon LaDue’s defense was once again impressive.
“The team’s effort in practice in paying off.”
Jordan Brown’s nine points led the Cougars.

Caswell McCoy, Gabe Cayea and Lucas Pierce all chipped in with 10 points each for the Spartans, who jumped out to a 38-14 advantage at the half.
“The kids came ready to play and were focused,” Saranac coach Mike Recore said. “It was a nice team win.”
Nicholas Petro was the lone Nighthawk players in double figures with a game-high 14 points.

PORT HENRY — Joe Pelkey poured in 18 points, including four three-pointers, to lead the way for the Vikings in their CVAC win.
Cooper Allen followed with 16 points, while Logan Gilbo and Jacob Mascarenas each added eight.
Moriah led by a 40-18 margin at the half and had 11 players get into the scoring column.
“We shot the lights out in the first quarter,” Moriah coach Brian Cross said. “Pelkey scored 16 points and Allen with nine.”
Porter Goodman was the only AuSable Valley player to reach double figures with 10 points.
