MANKATO — Blue Earth County is collecting reports of property damaged by the recent flood.
Damage occurring since June 16 should be reported to the county by completing the Property Damage Report online.
Information on damaged or destroyed property, as well as the damage report form, can be found on the county’s website: blueearthcountymn.gov/propertydamage.
By reporting property damage, the county can review the information and compile it for potential relief. Damaged properties are assessed to review any potential value loss.
Properties may qualify for individual property tax credits and other assistance. Accurate reporting of flood damage is crucial in strengthening the county’s application to FEMA for federal funding and assistance. County staff will follow up on submissions as soon as possible.
Damage may include impacts to the interior and exterior of homes, buildings and other structures such as sheds and barns. It may also include impacts to land improvements such as driveways, land that has suffered erosion or agricultural drainage systems.
Sandbag Disposal
If Blue Earth County residents have sandbags they would like to dispose of, they can be brought to the Blue Earth County Public Works facility at 35 Map Drive, Mankato. There will be a drop-off location located at the front of the building and it will be open 24/7, including weekends.
The sand will need to be removed from the bags and placed in the appropriate pile and the bag deposited into a container provided.
