Niagara County
• LARCENY: A resident on the 8600 block of Lake Road in Somerset told a Niagara County Sheriff’s deputy Thursday that his snowplow attachment had been stolen. The attachment had been sitting on the side of the road and the owner was trying to sell it for $250.
• FRAUD: Police responded to a report of fraud on the 1500 block of Lockport Street in Newfane Wednesday. The caller told a Niagara County Sheriff’s deputy that someone had opened a credit card in her father’s name and had used it to make $116.33 in purchases. Police are investigating.
• FRAUD: Police responded to a report of fraud on the 1600 block of Hess Road in Newfane on Monday. The victim told a Niagara County Sheriff’s deputy that she’d received a call from someone claiming to be from her bank and had a large amount of her personal information. She said she checked her account and saw $22,000 had been transferred. The bank reimbursed the money, but she received another call from the same person asking for more information, which she declined to answer. The deputy advised the victim to keep an eye on her accounts.
• CONTRABAND: Police responded to a contraband report at the Niagara County jail at 5:12 p.m. Wednesday. A correction officer told a Niagara County Sheriff’s deputy that contraband was found in an inmate’s cell. The unknown substance was in a blue pen tube.
• TRESPASS: Police responded to a trespass complaint on South Transit Road at 4:28 a.m. Thursday. The caller told Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies that he believed a man was breaking into cars. The suspect was found sleeping in a vehicle and was removed from the premises. A woman was also found in the same car and was advised to turn herself in on a warrant in Town of Tonawanda.
