NORTH ANDOVER — As part of North Andover Black History Month activities, the North Parish Unitarian Universalist, 190 Academy Road, will hold a free concert by James Dargan on Sunday, Feb. 18, from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
Dargan, a musician and writer from North Carolina, performs passion programs that combine music and spoken word to take audiences on a journey. Each program speaks to a specific social theme with music of different genres, interwoven with commentary on how they connect to our own lives.

Talk on Haverhill’s Black History
HAVERHILL — In celebration of Black History Month, the Buttonwoods Museum will present a free talk on Haverhill’s Black history on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 6:30 p.m. at the Haverhill Public Library. The program was originally scheduled for Feb. 8.
The program is a summary of the ongoing research into the history of Haverhill’s underrepresented populations that began in July of 2022, presented by Grant Project Manager Carol Majahad and Grant Research Intern Claire Brady, sponsored by the Cummings Foundation.
Come explore findings from the local history collection and the biographical files in the library’s special collections, as well other published and unpublished sources, and the resulting educational resources compiled by the researchers.
Learn about the stories of Haverhill’s enslaved, freed, and free African-American individuals from the settlement period through the 19th century, as well as those of African descent who helped shape the city from the 19th century onward.

Conversation on Route 110
METHUEN — A community conversation about MassDOT’s proposed improvements to Route 110 hosted by State Rep. Ryan Hamilton will be held Monday. Feb. 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the function room of the Irish Cottage, 17 Branch St.
The meeting seeks to bring together interested community members and local and state elected officials to discuss proposed improvements to Route 110 in Dracut and Methuen.
Update from Israel
BEVERLY — Explore the current pulse and mood of Israel with Ambassador Ido Aharoni on Wednesday, Feb. 28, from 7 to 8 p.m. via Zoom.
Aharoni will present an overview of social and political undercurrents in Israeli society and will explore what may emerge from Oct. 7 and the Israel-Hamas War.

ANDOVER — YWCA Northeastern Massachusetts is seeking nominations of women who have made a difference in their work and community.
Nominations for this year’s 41st annual Tribute to Women luncheon will be accepted through March 1 and can be sent to the YWCA, Attention: Eunice Zeigler, 38 Lawrence St., Lawrence, 01840 or by going online to ywcanema.org/tribute.
The Tribute to Women takes place at the Andover Country Club on May 16 at noon.
A hallmark of the event is that women honored come from all walks of life; their contributions are varied, and all are remarkable in their own unique way.
Since 1983, the YWCA’s Tribute to Women awards luncheon has recognized over 1,200 Merrimack Valley and North Shore women leaders from business and community organizations.
