Phillips Andover senior Dani Nugent of Boxford won the 140 pound girls title at the Beast of the East wrestling tourney, making history as the Big Blue’s first-ever champ at the prestigious event.
Nugent won the championship, winning four times, included a 13-6 decision in the final over the defending champ.
Freshman Serra Akyali earned a fourth place and Toni Elliott placed fifth.
On the boys side, Julian Rios was the lone placer for Andover, which finished 79th. He was sixth at 106.

In the opener of the Hillies Hockey Christmas Tournament, Haverhill scores the only two goals of the third period to win it. Matt Costa had three goals for the winners, and Jack Baker added two goal and an assist. Nolan Sheehan pitched in two assists. Max Boyer was sharp in net with 27 assist.

Yeira Davilla led the 1-1 Lancers with 18 points, and Shannel Ramos tossed in 17 in the win.
Somerville 47, Haverhill 15
Sophomore Grace Wood had eight points for the Hillies in the loss.

Tyler Bourgea had a goal and an assist to lead the Redmen.

Sophia Barbosa’s second-period goal was the difference in the win for the Red Rangers. Sloan Costa kept 4-1 Central in it with 33 sparkling saves.
