CUMBERLAND — One game after tying her own record with 12 steals against Frankfort, Avery Miller reached another milestone on Friday.
Miller passed Cassie Murray for fourth place on Allegany’s all-time scoring list, leading the Campers (4-1, 1-0 City League) to a 52-13 victory at Bishop Walsh.
Miller sits at 1,295 points, three more than Murray had upon graduation in 2000. Murray is now an assistant coach on the girls basketball team and the head coach for volleyball.
Miller recorded 18 points, eight steals and seven rebounds.
Ella Shade and Savannah Walton each scored eight points for Allegany.
Only three players scored for the Spartans (3-3, 0-1 City League), led by Grace Elliott’s five points.
The Campers led 16-4 after one quarter, 19-8 at halftime and 42-11 heading to the fourth.
Allegany plays in the Hancock Christmas Tournament beginning Friday at 5:30 p.m. against the Maryland School for the Deaf.
The Campers face South Hagerstown on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
Bishop Walsh returns on Jan. 3 at 6 p.m. to play Paw Paw at home.
Petersburg 61, Union 23
PETERSBURG, W.Va. — Petersburg clinched a spot in the championship game of the Petersburg Tip-Off Tournament, defeating Union on Friday.
The Vikings (3-2) were led by Quenlynn Cole’s game-high 16 points.
Miley Tingler scored 13 while Shyane Tawney added 11.
Chandra Gaither led Union (2-3) with 10 points.
Petersburg led 12-4 after one quarter, 36-10 at halftime and 56-18 after three.
The Vikings play Moorefield on Saturday for the tournament championship, then go to Hampshire on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
Union plays Pendleton County in the consolation game on Saturday before hosting Pocahontas County on Jan. 3 at 5:30 p.m.
Moorefield 53, Pendleton County 47
PETERSBURG, W.Va. — Moorefield trailed for three quarters in the other semifinal of the Petersburg Tip-Off Tournament, but rallied in the fourth quarter to beat Pendleton County on Friday.
Moorefield was behind 13-7 after one, 21-16 at the break and 36-28 after three, but a 25-11 fourth quarter performance completed the comeback.
CiCi Kump led the Yellow Jackets (2-4) with 23 points and Kerigan Bergdoll finished with 12.
Avery Townsend paced Pendleton County with a game-high 24 points.
Union and Pendleton play in a consolation game on Saturday before the Jackets play Petersburg for the championship.
Moorefield returns on Jan. 3 at home against Tucker County at 7:30 p.m.
Calvary 39, New Life 21
CRESAPTOWN — Madie Robinette’s game-best 23 points led Calvary to a win over New Life on Friday.
Reagan Weeks added 12 points for the Eagles (2-2).
Sydei Anki led New Life with 11 points.
Calvary led 15-7 after one, 27-7 at the break and 37-12 heading to the fourth.
The Eagles next game is on Jan. 3 at 5:30 p.m. with a trip to Harman, West Virginia.
