MANKATO — A Mankato man now faces a second sexual assault charge leading up to a scheduled July trial.
Michael Von Amick, 36, was first charged with felony first-degree criminal sexual conduct in August in Blue Earth County District Court. The second charge, also first-degree criminal sexual conduct, was filed Monday.
Amick pleaded not guilty to the first charge in February.
A criminal complaint states the accusation against Amick dates back to June 2022. A woman accused him of sexually assaulting her despite her repeatedly telling him no.
Before the alleged assault, he reportedly threatened to kill her cat. Once he left, she said she locked the door and called police to report what happened.
Police reported using DNA analysis from the woman’s sexual assault exam to link Amick to the alleged incident, according to the complaint.
Amick’s pre-trial is scheduled for July 18 ahead of a trial planned for July 30-Aug. 1.
