A Time 4 Paws Inc. expands to open a spay-and-neuter clinic in September.
They obtained their state inspection for a premises permit. Thanks to donations and grants, the long-awaited facility is now open.
“We are so excited about this progress,” said Karen McMeekin, president and founder of A Time 4 Paws Inc. “New signage is currently underway that will display the addition of the spay and neuter clinic.”
Starting in September, the Spay and Neuter clinic will be open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Three veterinarians, funded by revenue from the clinic, will staff the facility and share the workload. They will be assisted by four veterinary technicians each day.
“We aim for the clinic to be open four days a week in the future, enabling us to do 300 surgeries a month,” said McMeekin.
Services available for dogs and cats at the clinic include affordable spaying, neutering, vaccines, microchipping, heartworm tests, FIV/FELV tests, flea and parasite prevention, and nail trimming.
A drop-off area will allow pet owners to drive through and drop off their pets for the day. Pets will go home the same day of services are provided.
The spay-and-neuter clinic will offer affordable services to rescue groups, shelters and the general public.
“Volunteerism is so important to us,” McMeekin says. “Without people’s help, we wouldn’t have gotten this far. And donors are just as important,” McMeekin adds. “We’ve had flooring, electrical, plumbing and paint donated.”
Ongoing donations are vital to this organization as the needs continue to be met and grow with the clinic’s opening.
In addition to funds, the clinic still needs a gas-operated stackable washer-dryer unit, a stand-alone gas dryer, and a new commercial or large-size washing machine.
Ongoing needs are laundry soap, distilled water, paper towels, copy paper and printer ink.
They also need cash donations for vouchers for low-income families.
“We have specific special items to purchase,” McMeekin explained. “We welcome anyone interested in volunteering or donating to our needs to contact us.”
