The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Thursday incident in Lake Tansi that left two people dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
The two were identified as Gary Agopsowicz and Angela Fifelski, both 56 of Shoshone Loop, said Lt. Gary Howard, the Sheriff’s Office’s director of criminal investigation, public information and community services.
“The investigation is continuing at this time to determine the circumstances surrounding their deaths,” Howard said in a Friday press release. “To establish a precise cause of death, both bodies will be transferred to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.”
Lake Tansi Police Department initially received a call Thursday night for a welfare check at 5029 Shoshone Loop. They discovered the two bodies upon arriving at the scene at around 10:13 P.M.
Sheriff’s deputies and investigators were then summoned to conduct an investigation.
“We would like to assure the residents of Cumberland County that there is no threat to public safety and no reason for concern,” Howard said in the release. “We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Gary Agopsowicz and Angela Fifelski. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they navigate this heartbreaking loss.”
Howard said the sheriff’s office will provide updates on the investigation as more information becomes available.
