At the last meeting of the 127 Senior Center, three couples played the Almost Newlywed Game. Floyd and Kathleen Burgess, Dick and Betty Campbell, and Keith and Donna Johnson have a combined total of over 100 years of marriage, but soon discovered they indeed did not know everything about each other. There were many funny and conflicting answers, but there was one question for the wives that everyone got right. The question “What does your husband do that annoys you the most?” got the same answer from all the wives — “He doesn’t listen.” The husbands quickly responded with the correct answer, as they all seemed to know instantly that their wives would say that, and this got a good laugh from the audience.
If you are 50 years of age or older, the 127 Senior Center invites you to become a member and join in the fun! Friday morning meetings start with the doors opening at 8 a.m. for coffee and fellowship, games, or just chatting and catching up with old friends and making new ones. Visitors are greeted by two of the friendliest ladies you will ever meet — Diane and Betty, and they will fill you in on everything you need to know about the center, and then introduce you to some new friends.
Bingo is from 9:30 to 10:30. The members wish to thank Life Care Center and Quality Home Health for sponsoring bingo prizes at the last meeting.
After bingo, President Arlene Simmons presides over a short meeting to let the members know of upcoming events. She always asks members if they have any announcements to make or jokes to tell. Member Leonard Hollender can always be counted on for a funny joke. This time the joke was about cats, which got a very big laugh.
As it was the last Friday of the month, there was a drawing for the Kitchen Volunteer of the Month for April, and member Lynda Ennis won a gift card to Chick-Fil-A. After the meeting, the entertainment starts, which is sometimes musical entertainment or a speaker sharing helpful information for seniors, or sometimes a fun game such as the Almost Newlywed Game. This Friday, May 10, the members will be hearing from the Tansi Exchange Club.
Do you enjoy live music? The community is invited to come to the 127 Senior Center at 1460 S. Main Street in Crossville, for live music every Thursday evening, from 6-8 p.m. Gene Brown and friends always provide some great music of various types including bluegrass, country, and more. There’s dancing, too, and all are welcome!
