Longtime Press-Republican executive Scott Bresett has been promoted to general manager of the newspaper.
Bresett, 48, fills the day-to-day leadership role previously held by recently departed publisher Lamiaa Aly Elshafay.
Bresett has worked at the Press-Republican for 25 years in a variety of roles. That doesn’t include the five years as a youth carrier in his native Keeseville.
“We are excited to promote Scott to general manager,” said Sharon Sorg, executive vice president for newspapers at parent company CNHI. “His longstanding dedication to the community and the Press-Republican staff will serve both well.”
Bresett began his career at the paper in 1999 as a circulation department district manager, working with carriers and single-copy locations to ensure quality customer service.
In 2020, he moved up to director of audience development, overseeing the circulation and production departments. In that role, he also traveled to other CNHI locations within New York State to assist them.
“I never really thought of working at the Press-Republican as a job, but rather as providing the community with a necessary service,” Bresett said. “I look forward to working with our great team in my new role as general manager.”
Bresett is a 1994 graduate of AuSable Valley High School, going on to also graduate from Clinton Community College and the State University of New York in Plattsburgh.
He is a member of the Keeseville Knights of Columbus, serving as the organization’s treasurer since 2011. He recently joined the Keeseville Youth Commission Board of Directors, which helps younger generations in the towns of AuSable and Chesterfield.
An avid camper and hiker, Bresett completed the Adirondack 46er challenge, bagging all 46 high mountain peaks, when he was just 18. Kayaking and fishing are among his favorite pastimes.
Bresett resides in Keeseville with his wife, Kelly, and their two daughters, Keleena and Scotlyn.
