TRAVERSE CITY — Cadillac is halfway to a Traverse City sweep after Monday’s big win over Traverse City West.
The Vikings held off a feverish Titan rally for a 55-44 Big North Conference victory Monday evening, putting Cadillac at 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the BNC.
“Played a great first half, handled their press extremely well, ran them off the 3-point line for the most part,” Cadillac head coach Ryan Benzenberg said. “I give (West head coach) Doug (Baumann) and his team credit. We had it at 20 most of the second half, and they battled and got it to 10-12; but I’m proud of our guys for getting the momentum back when West took it from us.”
Charlie Howell led the Vikings with 21 points, with Kyle McGowan adding 13, Eli Main and Gavin Goetz six each, and Grant Williams scoring five.
It’s the fifth straight game the Vikings made more free throws than their opponent attempted.
Ben Habers led West with 17 points, and Lincoln Lockhart added 15.
Cadillac, which beat TC Central earlier this month, resumes BNC play Thursday, hosting Petoskey. TC West (5-2, 1-1 BNC) hosts Alpena on Thursday.
