PORT HENRY — It’s hard to win when the other team has the hot hand. That’s what Moriah had to deal with, coming up short against Ti, 42-34, in CVAC action Thursday.
The Sentinels proved no match as Sophia Dorsett and Cassidy Mattison combined to hit seven three pointers.
“Our inexperience as a team got the best of us tonight and Ti made a lot of the simple things difficult for us,” Vikings head coach Gary Olcott said. “But the girls never gave up and fought hard until the end.”
Both Dorsett and Mattison scored 13 points each to lead Ti, with Sophia Johndrow added nine.
Moriah was led by Hannah Gaddor who had a game high 23 points.
“We will get better from this and be a better team moving forward,” Olcott said. “Hats off to Dan Dorsett for having his team playing very well this early in the season”

BEEKMANTOWN 48
PLATTSBURGH 36
PLATTSBURGH — Payton Parliament is a force of nature.
She was unstoppable against Plattsburgh, as Beekmantown worked its way to a 48-36 victory over the host.
Parliament scored 27 of her teams’ 48 points, which included three shots from beyond the arc.
“We had no answer for Parliament tonight,” Plattsburgh coach Kelly Weiss said. “She played an excellent game.”
The Hornets had two players reach double figures in Isabell DeTulleo (13) and Bailey Hewson (10).
“We had girls get into foul trouble early which hurt us,” Weiss said. “We are struggling to find our offensive rhythm and need to work as a team to find ways to score.”

NCCS 59
PERU 41
CHAMPLAIN — It’s hard to top the NCCS duo that is Desire DuBois and Bailee Lafountain.
DuBois (27) and Lafountain (20) combined to score 47 of their team’s 59 points to lead the Cougars to a 59-41 win over Peru.
It felt as little could go wrong for NCCS as they held a 31-24 lead at the break. The Nighthawks didn’t give up and fought until the final whistle, not giving the Cougars a chance to relax.
“Tonight’s score doesn’t reflect the type of game it was,” NCCS’ coach Robb Garrand said. “Coach Marshall’s squad has improved tremendously and battled us on both ends of the floor.”
Reese Duprey led Peru with 15 points as Natalia Gushlaw-Mirville added eight.
“There’s some takeaways for improvements this evening, however there definitely were some positives as well from our Cougar team,” Garrand said. “We have to work hard because there are many teams that cannot be taken lightly.”
With the win, NCCS remained undefeated at 3-0 as they got their first win in Division I against Peru. The Nighthawks fall below .500 on the year with a 1-2 overall record.

WILLSBORO 32
CHAZY — Zamir Foster is a double-double machine.
He churned out 11 points and 11 rebounds to help lead Chazy to its first win of the season, defeating Willsboro, 61-32.
“I felt overall this was a good game for us,” Eagles head coach Austin Tetreault said. “We like to preach defense first, and it was nice to see every player out there buy in and play good solid defense every possession.”
Chazy moved the ball well on the offensive end of the court and came to realize it was creating high quality shots for the team that were falling.
Evan Dwywer led the Eagles with a team high 13 points. Dylan McAfee added 12.
Willsboro’s Harvey Merrill put his team on his back with a game high 21 points.
With the win, Chazy improves to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the MVAC. Willsboro falls to .500 at 3-3.
