A three-year starter in the top half of the lineup, Brendan Burke’s rise to the top has coincided with the re-emergence of the North Andover High golf program.
Both he and the team have grown into a force around the state together.
The Knights junior was voted as the Merrimack Valley Conference Division 1 Most Valuable Player this past season, and we have followed it up by naming Burke the 2023 Eagle-Tribune Golfer of the Year.
Playing the No. 1 spot for the regular-season champion Knights, Burke led the way to an 11-2 campaign.
“He’s been an impact player in our league for a long time now, and he’s still got another year to go,” admired Bradford Country Club pro and Haverhill High coach Kevin Murphy.
His steady play anchored a lineup loaded with rising stars. On the biggest day of the fall for the Knights, Burke carded a 74, piloting the Knights to the Division 1 North championship.
He followed it up with a fourth-place finish at the MVC Open, shooting a 76.
Burke closed out the year with a 76 at GreatHorse in Hampden, claiming eighth place in the Division 1 State Championship Meet.
A gifted multi-sport athlete, Burke is a high-flying forward on the North Andover hockey team in the winter season.
