The Athens City Council had a light agenda at its Monday, Dec. 11, 2023, meeting. Due to the Christmas holidays, the next council meeting will be held Monday, Dec. 18, at the Athens City Hall. City Council work session begins at 4 p.m. followed by the regular meeting at 4:30 p.m.
Public hearings
• Public hearing determining that a structure at 705 Brownsferry Street is unsafe and a public nuisance, and ordering abatement of same. No action was taken.
• Public hearing determining that structures along Hatfield Lake Road are unsafe and a public nuisance, and ordering abatement of the same.
• Resolution determining that structures along Hatfield Lake Road are unsafe and a public nuisance, and ordering abatement of the same.
Consent calendar
• Approve travel expenses for personnel of the Human Resources Department.
• Approve travel expenses for personnel of the Electric Department.
• Approve the construction of an equipment shed for the Wastewater Collection Division of Water Services, and the Water Services Director, for and on behalf of the City of Athens, is authorized to execute a contract with Summertown Metals, LLC for the construction.
• Approve travel expenses for personnel of the Parks and Rec Department.
Regular meeting
• Adopt an organizational chart for the Water Services Department.
• Approve a task order with Krebs Engineering, Inc. to perform preliminary design and easement acquisition for the Lower Swan Creek Sewer System, Phase 3.
• Approve a change order for the Lower Swan Creek Sewer System construction contract with Cleary Construction, Inc.
