The Rockport boys hoop team got off to a strong start on Tuesday night, winning their season opener with a 52-45 decision over Northeast Metro Tech.
It was a balanced attack through and through, with seven guys finding the scoresheet on the evening. Josiah Whitley led the charge with 12 points, Eddie Merz also reached double figures with 11, and Aidan Christianson added seven points. Chase Wheat and Brady Murray each chipped in six as well.
“Super balanced across the board,” said Rockport head coach Phillip Whitley. “We were just really solid with the basketball tonight. They were a pretty physical and athletic team and we did a really good job taking care of the ball. We only had five turnovers the whole game and a lot of assists which usually helps.”
