CHULA — Tiftarea Academy’s return from the holidays was not exactly festive as the basketball teams fell in road encounters with Southwest Georgia Academy, Citizens Christian Academy and Central Fellowship.
The Panthers dropped a close 60-54 game at SGA, then fell 77-60 to Citizens Christian in games played Dec. 1 and Dec. 4.
The Lady Panthers nearly came back from a huge 1st half deficit before falling to SGA 57-50. CCA won the girls game 66-43. Like the Lady Panthers, Citizens Christian is a year removed from the state finals.
Monday’s Central Fellowship games also saw the Panthers and Lady Panthers drop their contests. The CFCA girls won, 68-40. The boys game was close until nearly t he end. Tiftarea had an 18-18 halftime tie, but the Lancers pulled away late, 56-46.
Tiftarea will try for revenge against Citizens Christian at home Thursday, Dec. 7. This will be their last home games before Christmas.
