While the eight football Super Bowls are still ongoing to close out the week, for the rest of the MIAA fall sports teams across the state, their seasons have been over for a while now.
So who hoisted state championship trophies this year?
Well, as expected, the chalk won the season yet again.
All four No. 1 seeds won titles in field hockey, and elsewhere you still basically had to be a top-4 seed to have a chance. The sport with the most parity was boys soccer, where you had No. 6 Oliver Ames win in Division 2, and No. 8 Westport take home the Division 5 crown.
Locally, of course, Newburyport field hockey was the closest to a state title, falling to Watertown in an epic Division 3 final. We also had Georgetown girls soccer lose in the Division 5 Quarterfinals to Monson, which went on to win it all.
Here are the complete list of MIAA state champions so far, without football.
