The yearly Northwest Georgia Family Crisis Center Inc. Holiday Tour of Homes is slated to return on Saturday, Dec. 2.
“The Tour of Homes is something that we’ve been hosting in Whitfield County for 33 years,” said Whitney Thomas, community engagement coordinator for the crisis center. “It’s a holiday experience where you get to tour historical homes and higher-end homes in Dalton — you get to learn a little bit about the history of the home, the history of Christmas ornaments or special things in their home.”
The tours are scheduled to run from 5 to 9 p.m. Also offered is a special dinner at the Weaving Room at The Mill at Crown Garden.
Tickets for the tour are priced at $40, while tickets for the tour and dinner are priced at $75.
“This year we will have a bluegrass Christmas experience at dinner,” Thomas said.
The Northwest Georgia Family Crisis Center has operated in the community for more than 40 years.
“We are a domestic violence agency that advocates for victims,” Thomas said. “We also have a shelter that is a safe space for people who are in need.”
The center serves Whitfield County, Murray County and Gordon County.
“We help with filing temporary protection orders, rental assistance, power and shelter,” Thomas continued.
Thomas said the Tour of Homes is one of the crisis center’s biggest fundraising events of the year.
“It helps us continue to serve victims of domestic violence in the area,” Thomas said. “It helps us to keep families in their homes, if they’re safe and able to be in their homes.”
The Tour of Homes also allows the center to provide Christmas gifts for clients.
“So that’s one thing they don’t have to worry about,” Thomas said. “With this event, we’re able to continue to serve those victims and make sure that all their needs are met.”
Tickets for the Tour of Homes can be purchased by calling (706) 278-6595 or via the crisis center’s Facebook page.
