ALL-CAL CROSS COUNTRY
The process of picking the All-CAL team for cross country is as objective as you can get: Finish inside of the top-15 at the CAL Open, and you’re in.
Simple as that.
So with that knowledge, we had a ton of Daily News area locals earn their spot on the team this year. For the boys, Newburyport’s Michael Mohoric (2nd), Alex Lisauskas (11th), Ben Perrone (12th) and Stephen D’Ambrosio (15th) made the team, as did Pentucket’s Jackson Beauparlant (4th) and Triton’s Zach Lyon (9th), Duncan MacDonald (10th) and Cassidy McBee (14th).
For the girls, Pentucket’s Kaylie Dalgar and Susan Wisniewski placed 1-2. Newburyport saw a league-high five runners earn a spot on All-CAL, with Abby Kelly (4th), Blake Parker (6th), Lydia Boddy (8th), Bristol Banovic (9th) and Devin Stroope (15th) all finishing inside of the top-15. Lastly, both Julia Parsons (10th) and Cambyr Sullivan (14th) made it for Amesbury, as did Georgetown’s Abigail Porto (13th).
EXCITING NEWS WITH NHS SKI TEAM
It’s an exciting time to be involved with the Newburyport High ski program. The Clippers will be welcoming a new coach this winter in Kyle Tracy, who is a former collegiate and Masters ski racer and Alpine Ski Coach at Killington Mountain School in Vermont.
The program is also holding a fundraising effort with a used ski sale this Saturday (11/18) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition to gently used skis, they’ll also be raffling off a pair of K2 powder skis, and have hot cocoa offerings on the day of the fundraiser. For more information, follow the ski team on Instagram (@nhs.skiteam) or email: nhsski2324@gmail.com.
FREIERMUTH MAKING RETURN
It looks like Pittsburgh Steelers tight end and local legend Pat Freiermuth is nearing his return to the field. The former Pentucket star has been dealing with a hamstring injury that put him on injured reserved, but on Wednesday the Steelers opened his 21-day practice window to return.
And all signs point to Freiermuth playing this weekend against the Browns.
