CUMBERLAND — Southern spoiled Bishop Walsh’s Homecoming by scoring five goals en route to a 5-1 win at Rowan Field at Stephen F. Paul Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Dominic Burgess started the scoring early at 36:23 on an assist by Nathaniel Argabrite. Brian Oberholtzer scored unassisted at 16:56. Ben Lohr scored unassisted with 10 seconds left in the half to complete the first half scoring.
Daniel Savage scored on a penalty kick at 34:23 of the second half, and Devin Hill scored on an assist by Tommy Scott at 4:43.
Bishop Walsh got on the board when Jackson Miller scored unassisted at 2:10.
Minh Le had three saves on nine Southern shots, seven on goal. JJ Pascuta had one save on three Southern shots, two on goal. Zach Brown had six saves on 10 Bishop Walsh shots, six on goal. Brady Spotts had one save on one Bishop Walsh shot on goal. Bishop Walsh led in corner kicks, 4-3.
Bishop Walsh (3-4-1) hosts Mountain Ridge (5-2-1) on Thursday at 4 p.m. Southern (4-5-1) is at Allegany (8-0) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

FROSTBURG — No. 2 Mountain Ridge defeated No. 5 Fort Hill 4-3 on Thursday at Miner Stadium.
The Sentinels (4-2, 1-2 Western Maryland Athletic Conference) led 2-1 at halftime.
Kolton Whorton scored unassisted to open the scoring for Fort Hill at the 19:47 mark.
The Miners (5-2-1, 4-1 WestMAC) responded at the 18:34 mark when Jake Geary found Charlie Simpson who tied the game at 1.
The Sentinels responded with an unassisted goal at the 10:50 mark by Hunter Raines.
Down 2-1 at halftime, Owen Pratt tied the game off a Gavin Clayton assist at the 25:02 mark in the second half.
Clayton scored unassisted about three minutes later to give Mountain Ridge a 3-2 lead.
Whorton scored his second goal of the game at the 17:39 mark to tie it again at 3.
Pratt responded with his second goal at the 9:48 mark off a Ethan DeRiso pass that ended up being the game winner.
The Miners finished with a 10-6 edge in shots and 6-3 advantage in corners.
Ashton Reuschel for Mountain Ridge and Leland Garcia for Fort Hill each recorded five saves.
The Miners host University on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Sentinels head to Northern on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
In junior varsity game, the Miners defeated Frankfort 4-0 on Thursday.
Peyton Poland, Austin Simpson, Coen Wagner and Evan DeRiso each scored.
AJ Lauder, Wagner and DeRiso earned assists. DeRiso’s goal was scored on a penalty kick.
Mountain Ridge outshot Frankfort 16-7 and had a 3-1 edge in corners.
Allyn Weaver saved six shots for the Falcons while Carver Robeson saved four for the Miners.
The Miners’ JV team improved to 5-0-2.
