FROSTBURG — Two athletes across Frostburg State sports were named the Player or Athlete of the Week in the Mountain East Conference (MEC) earlier this week.
Softball junior Arden Miller earned Player of the Week after playing four games last week.
In a doubleheader against Bowie State, Miller combined to go 7 of 7 at the plate, collecting 10 RBI, three home runs and two stolen bases.
Miller hit a grand slam in the second game during the sixth inning.
In the second game of a doubleheader with Shippensburg, Miller hit a solo shot in the fourth inning.
Miller was also named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of the Week
The Bobcats (4-12) host Davis & Elkins for a doubleheader on Friday starting at 1 p.m.
In acrobatics and tumbling, freshman Bailey Miniefield was awarded MEC Specialist of the Week for the first time in her career.
In last Thursday’s meet against No. 10 Limestone, Miniefield succeeded in the tumbling event, getting a season-high in both the duo pass and the individual aerial pass.
In the duo pass, Miniefield helped the Bobcats score a 7.85/8.60, before seeing an 8.425/8.60 in the aerial pass, all assisting Frostburg to their highest finish of the season with a 238.295 overall score.
The Bobcats (3-2) host No. 14 Long Island on Friday at 6 p.m.
