The awards keep coming.
Cameron Molinare, the athletic director at Manchester Essex Regional High School, is the latest staff member to snag an award — the Theodore “Ted” Damko District 5 award.
Superintendent Pam Beaudoin and Principal Julie Sgroi recently announced the award, which is given to an athletic administrator who has three to five years of experience and has exemplified the “highest standards of their profession.”
In addition, the award is given to athletic directors who have made “significant contributions” to their school and community.
“We are incredibly grateful to have Cameron guiding our student athletes and athletic department,” said Sgroi. “She has demonstrated consistent leadership, respect and integrity that has encouraged student-athletes to be the best versions of themselves.”
Molinare has worked in the Manchester Essex Regional School District for more than three years, first acting as the interim athletic director before being appointed to the full-time position in 2022.
She previously served as the manager of Club Sports at Merrimack College and also as a graduate assistant at Endicott College.
She will be recognized at the Massachusetts Secondary Schools Athletic Directors Association Annual Awards Banquet on Thursday March 27.
“Congratulations to Cameron on this outstanding achievement,” said Beaudoin.
“Cameron is a great role model for our student-athletes. She had created an environment where student-athletes feel supported and protected and we are fortunate for her leadership.”
Molinare’s efforts in her position have certainly left their mark on the school’s student-athletes.
Not only are the Hornets’ athletic programs consistently among the top competitors in the Cape Ann League and at the state level, but this year alone, both the girls and boys basketball teams and boys and girls indoor track teams took home the CAL Baker Division Sportsmanship Award.
Last November, Manchester Essex accepted the MIAA Sportsmanship award for District 5, which included schools from the CAL, Northeastern Conference, Greater Boston League and Commonwealth Athletic Conference. Student-athlete representatives from the school were honored at the MIAA Sportsmanship Summit at Gillette Stadium, and it was the first time in school history that the Hornets took home the honor in the 20 years that the award has been presented.
