Senior captain Sydney Rogers tossed in 19 to lead the Knights on opening night. Sophomore Sophia Bowman worked hard in a 15-point, eight-rebound performance. For the Lancers, Yeira Davilla led with 10 points.
Greater Lawrence Tech 59, Nashoba 26
The Reggies got 18 points, three assists and five steals in the high school debut of freshman Serenity West. Maliah Caban added 17 points, and Mya German was a force defensively, finishing with nine boards and three blocked shots.
Pinkerton 72, Nashua North 40
Sydney Gerossie knocked in five three-pointers on her way to a 19-point night as the state finalist Astros rolled in their opener. Emily Leonard added 15 points in the win.
Pelham 47, Hanover 23
The Pythons busted out to a 15-2 lead and put it on cruise from there. Sophia Guinazzo and Grace Riley led a balanced Pelham attack with 12 points each. Addie Breault added eight points and Hannah Kelly had seven.
Whittier Tech 57, Northeast 11
Whittier pitched an 18-0 first-quarter shutout and never was threatened.
Freshman Natalie Chamberland had nine for the winners, while Yamilet Ortiz and Kelly Vigneaux had eight apiece.
Timberlane 55, S paulding 23
Ava Stewart paced the Owls with 24 points, and Rylee Donahue chipped in a dozen. Sam Mooney had eight for the winners.
St. Mary’s 73, Andover 37
In an “endowment” game for the Warriors, the Spartans dominated behind 20 points from Bella Owumi.
Windham 69, Dover 48
The Jaguars opened on the right foot with the win on the Seacoast. Lilah Boucher had 20 for the winners. Windham also got 11 from Rileigh Finneran and 10 from Gabby Gullifa.
Salem 67, Exeter 56
The Blue Devils won in one of the tougher gyms in the state, at Exeter, on opening night.
Boys Basketball
North Andover 47, Haverhill 38
Niko Catalano was unstoppable with 20 points to lead the Knights in their opener. Cam Bethel added 10. Alex Iraheta had 10, and Saul Cruz added nine for the Hillies, now 0-2.
Windham 65, Dover 45
Jack Murphy led a trio of Jaguars into double figures with 17 points, and Jack Koutrobis added 15. Sam Roidoulis was a beast down low with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Pinkerton 78, Nashua North 66
Brady Sullivan had 20 points on a night where the lead changed hands 11 times before the Astros finally took over.
Wilson Youssef had 15 points, while Ryan Bonilla and Josh Phanor added 14 each for the defending state champs.
Central Catholic 73, Tewksbury 56
The Redmen, who cut a 12-point deficit to a pair in the third quarter, ultimately had no answer for Raider Javi Lopez, who led all scorers with 26 points. Central’s sophomore trio of Drew O’Keefe, Jordan Marion and Zack Sangermano combined for 34 points off the bench.
Andover 57, St. Mary’s 50
The Warriors took to the road and scored an impressive opening-night win in Lynn. Sophomore Josh Roux erupted for 33 points to power the victory. Owen Crowley added nine, and Cam Gath had eight.
In Other Action
Timberlane fell in its home opener to Spaulding, 62-32, while Salem was beaten by Exeter, 66-43.

Central Catholic 4, Beverly 2
In a late Thursday night game, Sydney Foster came up huge in net with 26 saves as the Raiders opened with the tidy victory. Lucy Irwin netted two goals with an assist, and Sofia Flores Quero dished out three assists. Angie Cardillo and Sofia Powers had the other Central goals.
