Art Guild at Fairfield Glade member Charlene Lehto will teach a watercolor class in January at Plateau Creative Arts Center in Fairfield Glade.
“Her watercolors are so realistic that you feel like you are right there in the landscape,” said Jane Harding of the Art Guild. “If you love watercolor, Charlene can show you how to paint this sand dune scene.”
In this class, students work on and will be taught about the gentle slopes of sand dunes along the shore, subtle changes of light and shadow, and the varied grasses that grow on them.
Lehto has geared this class toward intermediate watercolorists who want to further their skills in this area. A suggested supply list that shows the colors she regularly uses will be available at the Arts Center and can be picked up when registering for the class.
Students should bring their own watercolor supplies and can use the palette they are comfortable with.
Lehto was raised in coastal New England. The beaches and fishing villages from Cape Cod to Down East Maine were the first subjects for her oils and watercolors.
Later, the lakes and mountains of New Hampshire, the coastline of Nova Scotia, and now the landscapes of Tennessee are included in her work.
The class is from 9 a.m.-noon Tuesday, Jan. 21. Space is limited, with a minimum of five students and a maximum of 10 students.
The cost for this three-hour class is $45 for Art Guild members, $60 for guests. Payment is due at time of registration.
To register, drop by at the Arts Center at 451 Lakeview Drive, Fairfield Glade, or call 931-707-7249.
