MANKATO — “The many faces of discrimination” will be the topic for the next Free Press Knowledge and Lecture Series that will be presented by Mohamed Alsadig, executive director and CEO of the Greater Mankato Diversity Council.
The event is 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, at The Free Press, 418 S. Second St.
Alsadig will give a short presentation on the science of race, race and colorism and how people can move away from race to start conversations about discrimination. He will then take audience questions for discussion.
Alsadig is an immigrant who has lived in other countries and is fluent in English and Arabic. He is also a longtime Mankato resident and has a computer science degree from Minnesota State University. He has worked at the Small Business Development Center, Mankato Public Safety, La-mano Inc. and is host of KMSU’s “Quiet Storm” radio show. He is also a past board member and board president of the Diversity Council.
He said he aims to work with businesses and other organizations “to establish an inclusive, welcoming environment for all within the Greater Mankato area.”
