MARBLEHEAD — Renowned cabaret and jazz recording artists, The Follen Angels, return to Marblehead Little Theatre once again this weekend for a matinee performance with vibrant, new arrangements to celebrate the iconic storytelling of legendary composers George Gershwin and Cole Porter, spanning a rich musical history from Ella Fitzgerald to Lady Gaga.
The Follen Angels bring their own unique styling to such tunes as, “I Got Rhythm,” “The Man I Love,” “Embraceable You,” “S’Wonderful,” “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” “Night and Day,” “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “Every Time We Say Goodbye,” and other favorites.
In addition to the music, The Follen Angels will share insights into the lives of the iconic composers and artists, focusing on Ella Fitzgerald, who first brought these songs to life. They also salute Lady Gaga, who continues to bring this timeless music to new audiences.
Showtime is Sunday, Dec. 8, 3 p.m. at the theater. Tickets are limited and previous Follen Angels shows have sold out. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Upstage Lung Cancer, which uses the performing arts to raise funds for cancer research.
The Follen Angels have toured the East Coast for over 20 years in numerous venues. Their six CDs represent a range in style from Gershwin and Cole Porter, Broadway showstoppers, to 1960s and 1970s pop.
