NORTH MANKATO — More than 1,100 students in the region will receive food boxes during the upcoming winter break as part of a sponsorship between a company and nonprofit.
Feeding Our Communities Partners, or FOCP, announced Rice Companies, a construction company with a Mankato location, is the sponsor for its 2024 Winter Break Food Box Delivery program.
The boxes include breakfasts, lunches and snacks covering the 12-day break at area schools, according to a release from FOCP.
“Rice Companies’ support this year will allow us to reach more families and ensure that students can focus on the fun of winter break,” stated Lori Wollmuth, FOCP’s community relations manager. “We are grateful to have Rice Companies join us in the fight against youth hunger, and their family-focused values make them a perfect partner.”
Volunteers from the company also will pack food boxes and deliver them to families.
“At Rice Companies, community and family are at the heart of what we do, and we believe no child should have to worry about their next meal — especially during the holidays,” stated Joey Barr, general manager in Mankato at Rice Companies. “We are honored to support FOCP’s efforts and to help make a tangible impact in our community.”
