FROSTBURG — Frostburg State freshman Genevieve Rippeon was named the Mountain East Conference Swimmer of the Week on Monday.
Rippeon broke four program records at the Franklin and Marshall Invite from Friday to Sunday.
She won the 1,650 yard freestyle, breaking the program record with a time of 17:33:34.
Rippeon set new program records in the 400-yard individual medley (4:31:52) and 500-yard freestyle. (5:04:13).
She also swam on three relay teams including the 800-yard free relay team.
Rippeon teamed up with Amaya Burke, Jayme Meadows and Ashley Ellsworth to break the program record with a time of 7:54.85.
The Bobcats finished tied for ninth overall out of 13 teams.
Frostburg heads to UMBC on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 1 p.m.
Diehl wins two events
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Cumberland native and North Carolina State sophomore Daniel Diehl won two events at Saturday’s Wolfpack Elite Greensboro Aquatic Center (GAC) Invitational.
Diehl, an Allegany graduate, won the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:41:68 and the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:40:37.
Diehl placed third in the 400 individual medley, timing 3:44:64.
The men’s team finished second overall behind Arizona State.
The next scheduled competition is the US Open beginning on Wednesday, Dec. 4.
