TIFTON — Tift County and Thomas County Central played a thriller on the diamond Tuesday in Thomasville. Now, they are so eager to see each other again, the games will be played a whole day sooner.
Actually, the real culprit is Mother Nature. A high percentage of rain Friday caused Tift to announce that the Region 1-6A doubleheader scheduled with the Yellow Jackets will instead be played Thursday, March 16.
The first game will start at 4:30 p.m. Game No. 2 will follow.
Tyler Holmes broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the 7th Tuesday with an RBI single, plating Brady Moretz. The run stood for a 4-3 victory.
TCC had knotted the score an inning before with a sacrifice fly. The teams were previously tied at 1-1 and 2-2.
John Dorman threw a complete game. John Davis hit another leadoff homer.
Tift is now 12-2 for the year, 3-1 in region competition. The Yellow Jackets fell to 10-5, also 3-1 in the region.
