The fourth annual Mistletoe Festival will be Saturday, Dec. 7, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Burr Performing Arts Park in downtown Dalton. The festival will benefit the Whitfield County-Dalton Day Care Center, a nonprofit United Way agency.
The center currently serves 207 children ages 15 months to 5. Parents pay a reduced fee to attend, making child care affordable for the families within the community.
There will be the Mister and Miss Mistletoe Pageant at the Wink Theatre that morning.
Jim Carrey’s “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” will be shown at the Wink Theatre with showtimes at 2 and 5 p.m. There will be concessions, and tickets are only $5 for the movie.
There will be local schools and artists performing at Burr Park throughout the day. Performers include Early Head Start at 11:15 a.m., Evelyn Quartet at 11:30, Shelby Woods at noon, the Dawnville Elementary chorus at 1 p.m., prekindergarten students from the Day Care Center at 1:30, Pleasant Grove Elementary at 2, Folkloric Dancers at 2:30, 3’s from the Day Care Center at 3, Cameron Rainey at 3:15, Hammond Creek Middle School cheerleaders at 4 and Head Start at 4:30.
There will be a children’s area with inflatables, corn hole and Jenga. There will be vendors for face painting, balloons and candy, and more than 50 craft and food vendors are expected.
There will be a raffle with the winner being announced at 4:30 p.m.
The Whitfield County-Dalton Day Care Center has been serving the community for 53 years.
